The date, time and place take a minute to write. The hard part is the short opening sentence that sets the tone for the whole celebration. That is where people usually lose the most time.

Here are ready-to-use birthday invitation wording examples for kids' birthdays, first birthdays, adult birthdays and milestone birthdays from 30 to 60. Choose the one that fits, replace the names and dates, and send. If you have one extra minute, add a personal line at the end. That is the part guests remember.

What every birthday invitation should include

No matter the tone, every good birthday invitation answers five questions:

  • Who is inviting - your name, the birthday person's name or the family
  • What the occasion is - birthday, first birthday, 50th birthday
  • When - date, day of the week and time
  • Where - venue name and full address
  • How and when to RSVP - phone, message, button or link, with a deadline

Make the template personal in 30 seconds

The ready-made wording does most of the work. The last part is what makes guests feel the invitation is really for them:

  • Add one personal sentence at the end.
  • Use the guest's name when you send individual invitations.
  • Mention a detail from the last time you met, if it fits.
  • Do not apologize for inviting someone. An invitation is good news.

Read the text out loud before sending. If it sounds artificial when spoken, it will sound artificial on screen too.

In Nestful, you can choose an invitation template, update the wording and send it with one link, with automatic RSVP collection included.
